I made this playful seaweed assemblage before Kangaroo Island’s catastrophic fires and long before the world responded to the coronavirus with The Great Pause. It reminds me of the images we see of microscopic life in a petri dish, that infinitely-complex invisible realm that we often forget. Between each ‘bead’ is a stitch of shiny silvery thread, a tiny touch of ‘bling’. Recent events have brought into focus the precious nature of our wild island coastline, where solace and solitude can always be found.
All the best everyone, stay safe.
